As the sun crawls its way back into the eastern sky, the last of the party animals surveys the night's puke-soaked wreckage. After TWELVE HOURS and SEVEN MOVIES, the gnarliest party of all time sputters out the last of its ecstatic, exhausted energy. Ids have raged, dreams have been seized, taboos have been broken and unexplored horizons have unfurled before us. The new sunrise brings with it the promise of a thousand tomorrows. But nothing is ever going to be the same again after last night. Even as the world intercedes, taking us all on our hurried journeys through our lives, we'll always have that night. That one night. That last perfect night of youth where, in one immortal moment, just for a second, all our friends were there and everything made sense. And then you threw up in your crush’s lap.
Thought that magic feeling was lost forever? Think again! As part of our fifth anniversary celebrations, the Beacon initiates a new tradition: THE FIRST ANNUAL SUMMER ALL-NIGHTER. Join us for seven mystery PARTY movies, each one chronicling the wild adventures of a single epic night, and let it change the trajectory of your entire life.
But if this marathon touches on the high-minded stuff, or suggests in its anarchic vision the possibilities of the revolutionary transformation of everyday life, it does so only incidentally, brushing by on its way to the keg. The ALL-NIGHTER is celebrating movies almost saintly in their stupidity, in their total disinterest in good intentions, in anything other than fun, fun, fun. The buzzkill, pursed-lipped Pharisees of a corrupt critical commentariat don’t want us to do it, just as they oppose anything that threatens their sense of authority, but it’s still raging after the cops have cleared out: "TO THE BREAK OF DAWN, YO!"
