DRACULA OF EXARCHEIA

A mad orthopedist arrives in Athens from the Carpathians, settles in the anarchist neighborhood of Exarcheia, and starts robbing graves for the body parts of dead musicians. His plan: stitch together the perfect rock band and make a fortune. Unfortunately, the dead have other ideas. Soon Athens’ militant zombies are organizing against the exploitation of their remains.

Part Hammer horror spoof, part punk-rock musical, part political satire and part document of the Greek underground at the dawn of the ’80s, Nikos Zervos’ gloriously disreputable cult oddity throws Frankenstein, Dracula, John Waters, socialist zombies, sexual anarchy and the real-life rock band Mousikes Taxiarhies into a blender. Tzimis Panousis leads a who’s-who of Greek counterculture through 87 minutes of passionate politics and absolute nonsense, culminating in a concert for the living and the dead.
